NEW RELEASE! The featured airplane in “Tribute to a Legend” is a 1938 Stinson Reliant SR-10J. The title is significant in two ways. The airplane was legendary in its time, admired for its luxurious, automotive-type features like an artificial wood-grain panel, roll-down windows, cranks and hang straps. The other legend is Jimmy Doolittle. He was Shell Oil’s aviation manager in 1938 when Shell Oil purchased the plane. During the next few years Doolittle flew over 100 flights in the Stinson, traveling the country for his employer. The current owners of this magnificent aircraft are Tom and Mary Dinndorf of Baudette, Minn. They deserve a huge amount of credit for spending many years restoring the plane back to its original condition, down to the smallest detail.
